Homegrown Nutrition WASH Advocacy: a Major Ingredients to save lives
Nutrition being the major threat in
rural communities has never been addressed by regular integrated development
actions. But, in our SLIO program nutrition as the component has been addressed
through different activities like awareness generation through wall painting,
promoting nutritional garden at the household level, and developing nutritional
crops at farmer’s field school point.
Apart from all the above, there had been initiatives in awareness generation with a wall painting
on nutritional slogans and pictures at strategic locations of the program area. As
planned, 8 wall paintings have been completed along with small hoardings in
almost all program villages with different messages on nutrition, sanitation,
savings, and other developmental issues in the program area.
Several discussions were also carried
out during village meetings and visits to make the program participants aware
of those wall writings and ensure practicing some small habits in their
household and community level as well. It has also been discussed during CRP
orientation training to develop understanding among the key facilitator at the
grassroots.
